I installed the Racing Beat Aluminum Lightweight Flywheel awhile back and have put together a video on my thoughts on it. It gives you better acceleration, but I think it took away my top end. Is it really worth buying one for your mazda rx8?

Hey Everyone, when I filmed this video almost 3 years ago, I had no idea what I was talking about. Please disregard what I thought was going on. A lighter flywheel with less rotational inertia WILL in fact accelerate faster. Some other variables made my rx8 slower during testing I can only assume. After driving other rx8s without a lightweight flywheel, I can assure you that there is a slight difference in how quickly the car revs, although acceleration doesn’t seem too noticeably faster.
Manual swapping my car and that’s the only kind of flywheel that I can find so🤷🏼♂️
Ive heard this before…..not always a result, light flywheel,s can rob torque too…..not wise on the RX,8
man im getting my clutch replaced at 40k rn. It would have lasted longer if i wasnt trying to learn to drift when i first got the car lol.
Long story short, no, it isn’t better off upgrading your clutch, final drive ratio and making the car lighter
